New chapter for Hotel Hesselet: Building an ambitious new restaurant and Japanese garden
Hotel Hesselet in Nyborg is now taking the next step in a major renovation and development. A new pavilion restaurant with towering ambitions is being built in the middle of the hotel's scenic surroundings.
At the same time, the hotel's entrance area will get a new Japanese garden, and the hotel's interior will undergo a gentle modernization. The renovation will be based on Nordic and Japanese elements.

Hotel Hesselet - Beach hotel between the forest and the sea
Hotel Hesselet is located in one of the most beautiful places on Funen. Right where the forest meets the sea, and where you can see the bridge that connects Zealand with Funen. Hesselet is located in Nyborg, which back in the Middle Ages was the place where the king met with the most important people in the kingdom. Today, the hotel is a place where all people meet, and where hospitality becomes homeliness.
The hotel is named after the forest it is located in, and Hesselet means where the small hazel trees grow. We are proud to be one of Denmark's most beloved nature hotels, and we strive to give all our guests an experience beyond the usual, whether they stay, eat or attend a conference at the hotel.
We do this by following our three extra senses: sense of quality, sense of place and sense of history.
We use our sense of quality when selecting everything from the ingredients in the restaurant to the furniture in the rooms and the duvets that can give our guests the best sleep. We also use it to enhance their experience of being in a place where there is love for detail and for the nature that surrounds us.
Because just as we host our guests, you could also say that nature hosts us. So when we say that we have a sense of place, it means that we prefer local ingredients, preferably in season. We follow the seasons and make it an experience for our guests to swim - and winter swim.
But we also have a sense of history and cherish the fact that families for generations have had a tradition of celebrating christenings, confirmations, weddings and even crown jewel weddings at the hotel. So even though we have promised each other that we will strive to measure ourselves against the very best, we do so without forgetting who we are and what our history is.
We are Funen, Danish and international. In that order.
And we are a breathing hole and meeting place right where the little hazel trees grow.

We had a family get-together at Hotel Hesselet at the end of March 2023, where we had an overnight stay, a 4-course gourmet dinner and breakfast before check-out. Some of our guests had dogs with them, and in this connection the hotel had provided a bowl and dog food. Another wish was an allergy-free room, which was also fulfilled in the best possible way.
