Do you love experiences in nature? On Funen and the Islands, the locals will help you if you need a helping hand.
A bike or hike is great until your water bottle is empty or your bike is flat. But here at the destination, there are a host of friendly Bike and Hike Friends ready to help you on your trip.
The more than 200 volunteer Bike and Hike Friends on Funen, Langeland and Ærø range widely – from local islanders to shops, attractions, businesses and accommodation, all of whom want to help you have a good experience and who have a common ambition to promote outdoor life at the destination. During the places' normal opening hours, they are ready to help you with the most basic supplies for your cycling or hiking holiday.
A Bike Friend offers you at least the opportunity to:
- Pumping up your bike
- Fill your water bottle
- Borrow the toilet or get information about the nearest toilet
A Hike Friend offers you, at a minimum, the opportunity to:
- Fill your water bottle
- Borrow the toilet or get information about the nearest toilet
Some Bike and Hike Friends have extended help to:
- Loan of patching equipment
- Sale of new bicycle inner tubes
- Access to a bike station with tools and bike racks
- Possibility to charge electric bicycles
- Sale of snacks and refreshments
- Access to benches as a resting and packed lunch spot
